Finings are a clearing agent. The "finings" not only help settle the spent yeast but also take out other impurities created in the fermentation process.
Finings are made from a special form of gelatine called isinglass which will clear your beer without removing any flavour.
Directions: Dissolve the contents of the packet in a cup of very hot water. Wait for it to cool down, then gently stir into brew when fermentation is 3/4 completed and leave for a few days.
